Our bowling team finally took 7 points last night by winning all 3 games on our Thursday Night Men’s League.

I personally made a big change in my approach last night which caused me to play much farther left than I am used to.  But it was a great change.  My bowling ball reaction was so much better than usually.  I was way more consistent and only threw a handful of awful shots.

I started out the first game with my Roto Grip Cell Pearl.  I felt like I was making nice shots, but with a couple of pulled splits, I ended the game with a score of 175.  Like normal, if I don’t like my bowling ball reaction, then I try a different ball in my fill shot of the 10th.

Brian Halstrom helped me choose which bowling ball to change to.  He said I should try the Ebonite NVD on the same line, but stay aggressive.  I did and CRACK, strike.

I stayed with the Ebonite NVD for the final two games, only moving two boards left throughout the games.  The second game I scored a 202, and finished the night with a 213.

Overall, I have to credit the change in my game to moving back about two feet on the approach.  This helped me increase my bowling ball’s speed, but it did more than that.  I believe that it really helped improve my timing, which gave me great ball reaction.

I bowl on the Thursday Night Men’s League at AMF Deltona Lanes.  Last night was our first night of league, and I was excited to be back.

Sometimes I wish I was a little more social.  I enjoy hanging out with my team, but I am not outgoing enough to go up to other people and talk to them.  It’s a shame, because I am friendly, and in the right mix, can be very outgoing.

Enough about that.  The first night of bowling itself start out amazing.   I just drilled my new Ebonite NVD and really bowled well with it.  Even though there were a couple of small mistakes I made during drilling, it still reacted fine.

During practice I tried the NVD and the Brunswick Ultra Zone.  I often used the Ultra Zone in the first game last season and I wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the NVD before committing to it for a game.  By the end of practive I decided to put the Brunswick Ultra Zone away for the night.

My first game was awesome all the way until the 10th frame where I made a mistake.  I ended up with a 232, even though I had an open in the 10th frame.  I was on pace to bowl a 268 until then.

The second game didn’t fare so well.  I started the game with the same Ebonite NVD, but eventually changed to my Brunswick Twisted Fury.  I often forget just how much this bowling ball hooks.  I ended up with a couple of opens and only bowling a 198.

The third game I used the Brunswick Twisted Fury exclusively.  The lanes were very squirlly, yet I started strong with 4 strikes.  However 3 of them were brooklyns… I couldn’t seem to get the ball to the right of the head pin.  Frame 5 was an open frame…   2 more strikes in frames 6 and 7.  So I am still on pace for a GREAT game.  Then the unthinkable… frame 8 I throw it in the gutter and don’t convert the spare.  I end up bowling a 192 the third game.

Now don’t get me wrong.  I am ecstatic have a 207 average in one night.  I ended last season with a 181 average.  Let’s just see if I can keep up this pace for the whole season.  I think I can, I think I can, choo choo…

Well, I was all amped up for our first night of league. However it was closed because of Tropical Storm Fay. What an annoying little storm this is.

It has not effected me too much personally, beside knocking down part of my fence. But it just dumping a ton of water and flooding some parts of the state.

I guess I will have to wait until next Thursday to write about the Ebonite NVD.

I just received an Ebonite NVD to drill up for use. I am going to test this bowling ball out on Thursday 8/21/2008. I will write up a review on this later this week.
