Watch me throw the Brunswick C-System Ulti-Max

    [bowlingball value="9659"/]

Based on the [bowlingball value="9120"/], I was expecting The [bowlingball value="9659"/] to be a hooking monster. Brunswick was able to make the ulti-max even more angular. I think this was accomplished with a pearlized coverstock that helps the ball easily clear the heads, going longer before making its move towards the pocket.

The ulti-max has a great color combination that makes the bowling ball very appealing as it rolls down the lane.

Find some oil, keep your speed up, and let this bowling ball do all the work for you. Fantastic job Brunswick.

I Don’t Understand the USBC (United States Bowling Congress)

I have been reading some good things in the latest US Bowler magazine about Stu Upson that has taken over at the USBC.  He has made some great changes and the people I know at the USBC seem to like the direction he has gone so far.

That being said.  The sport has been declining in membership for years.  The dues we pay used to get some decent awards, but those seem to keep dwindling.  They spend our money on moving the headquarters to Texas (still not sure if this was good or bad).

There is also a Keynote speaker every year at Bowl Expo.  They seem to get people that aren’t part of the industry, such as Bill Cosby.  Any idea how much of our money goes to paying for these high profile people?  When I go to a tech conference, I want to see the leaders in tech.  When I go to a bowling conference, I want to see the leaders in bowling.

I just heard that for Bowl Expo 2010, they are getting Sarah Palin.  My political beliefs aside, why on Earth would you bring politics into something like this?  You are already going to alienate half of the attendees that don’t like her.   Not to mention that I am sure she doesn’t speak for free or even cheap.  I think that this is a bad move on the part of the USBC.

    Just my $0.02

I was scratching my head too. If I went it would be to protest.

Bowl Expo is a BPAA event and has nothing to do with USBC.

Hmmm, that is a very interesting point. I guess I can't be upset since I do not put any money into the BPAA, as far as I know.

I would be upset if I were a BPAA member though. Why make it a political nightmare?

Thank you so much for the comment. It definitely changes the tone of my thoughts somewhat.

I Shot 647 in my Bowling League Last Night

While this isn’t my high series, it is for AMF Deltona Lanes.

I started the night with my [bowlingball value="4444"/]. I love the way this ball rolls when 1) I roll it well, and 2) the lanes accept it. It goes so long and because of the solid black, you can see the transition so well. So I shot a 201 first game.

Second game I changed to the [bowlingball value="6811"/]. With a couple of really bad shots I squeeked out a 195. So going into the third game I was -4.

Note: What do I mean by -4? Most bowlers base scores on a 200 average. So after game one, I was +1. Game two I was -5, so I was averaging -4. So I needed to shoot 204 in the third game to shoot 600. Back to my bowling now…

In the third game a continued to use the [bowlingball value="6811"/]. I started spare in the first frame, and strike in the second. In the third frame I decided to just throw the bowling ball into the gutter on the first ball. Somehow I rebounded a almost ran the sheet. I struck through the second ball in the tenth. My final score for the third game was 252, giving me a 647 series.

But the gray boards are so much bigger and easier to hit.

But thank you on the congrats. I am really working hard on my game. I spent this past weekend working on the approach. Went from an S6 sole to an S2 sole.

    Bowling: First Night of League

I bowl on the Thursday Night Men’s League at AMF Deltona Lanes.  Last night was our first night of league, and I was excited to be back.

Sometimes I wish I was a little more social.  I enjoy hanging out with my team, but I am not outgoing enough to go up to other people and talk to them.  It’s a shame, because I am friendly, and in the right mix, can be very outgoing.

Enough about that.  The first night of bowling itself start out amazing.   I just drilled my new [bowlingball value="6303"/] and really bowled well with it.  Even though there were a couple of small mistakes I made during drilling, it still reacted fine.

I'm excited about bowling again too. My 2 leagues start next week. I did a 4 week "warmup" league over the past month that I hope worked out all the kinks created by taking the summer off. I too suffer from being a little anti-social at the bowling center, but I'm working on it. Just wanted to let you know I'm also an IT Admin that's big into bowling. I like what you're doing with the site and enjoy your Twitter posts, etc. Keep up the good work.

I do primarily LAN Administration (Windows desktops with Windows & Linux servers) as well as end user hardware/software/printing support for 5 sites. I wish I knew more about programming. I'd love to put together a site or at least a podcast that's bowling industry related, but I just don't have the time to commit to it. Maybe soon, I'll start a personal blog or something. If I think of any improvement ideas for your site, I'll pass them along. I'm mrvaj on Twitter by the way. Have a good holiday weekend.

      Hi John! Love the blog!
My dad and I bowl together in a Tuesday night trio league. I think this is our 4th or 5th year doing it. I bowled when I was very young and then started up again about 5 years ago. I can't explain how much I enjoy spending time with my dad at the lanes every week. it's a magical place, at least in my mind. :-)

Last year, I bowled WAY too good the first week of league. I had a 725. It was my highest series of the entire season and our team had no handicap all year so we struggled. This year I'm trying to pace myself. Started out with a 561 and had a 635 this week. I usually end up averaging around 202 or 203 by the end of the year. So does Dad!

I am also in IT, I'm a Network Administrator. Basically me and another guy support about 400 people, doing everything from configuring routers to fixing printers.
Good to find your blog, and thanks for stopping by mine too. Keep us posted on your league progress.

      Take Care,
      -Chad
